Capt. Zack’s Seafood
Local favorite since 2004. Oysters on the half shell, crab cakes, and fried seafood. Outdoor seating with beach vibes. At 4422 Deep Hole Rd.
Closed some days off-season — check before heading over.
Don’s Seafood
Casual waterfront seafood. Local staple. Good for a low-key family dinner.
AJ’s on the Creek
Casual dining with water views. Laid-back, good for groups.
Ricky’s Seafood & Produce
A true local gem on Beebe Rd. Ricky grows his own clams and oysters in the bay. Great for picking up fresh seafood to cook back at the cabin, or order steamed crabs and platters to go.

Mr. Whippy
Ice cream stop. Perfect after mini golf or a bike ride into town.
Island Creamery
Another ice cream option with unique local flavors. Worth the visit.
Beer, wine & spirits
Beer and wine at Food Lion (Oak Hall, on the way in). Virginia ABC liquor store next door at 7017 Lankford Hwy.
On the island, Wine Cheese & More (4103 Main St) has curated Virginia wines with free tastings, plus craft beer, cheese, and coffee. Open daily.
🏖️ Outings & Attractions
Assateague Island
Just across the bridge from Chincoteague. Pristine beaches, wild ponies, and hiking trails through the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge. The Assateague Lighthouse is 142 feet tall and climbable.
Bring binoculars or borrow ours. The wildlife refuge is one of the best birding spots on the East Coast, and you’ll likely spot ponies grazing in the marsh on the ride over.
Saltwater Pony Tours
Boat tours into the marshes to see the wild Chincoteague ponies in their natural habitat — a different angle than seeing them on the Assateague refuge drive. Sightseeing and sunset tour options.

The historic home of the Chincoteague ponies made famous by the children’s book Misty of Chincoteague. Now run by the Museum of Chincoteague Island — small museum in the original Beebe family house, plus live ponies on the property.
At 3062 Ridge Rd — an easy walk from the resort (about 10 minutes).
NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center Group outing
Free admission. Interactive exhibits, real rocket hardware, and surprisingly engaging for both kids and adults. About a 15-minute drive from the resort. One of our planned group outings.
Saltwater Cowboy Museum
Small, quirky museum about the island’s history and culture. Worth a quick browse if you’re walking through town.
Fishing Charters
Several local outfitters run charters from the island. Ask at the Welcome Center or search online for availability during our week.
🚶 Walkable from the Resort
The resort is at the south end of Main Street — a few things are within easy walking distance:
Beebe Ranch
~10-minute walk on Ridge Rd. See ponies and learn the Misty story.
Anticipated Fri–Sat only in spring.
Ricky’s Seafood & Produce
~10-minute walk on Beebe Rd. Fresh local seafood and produce.

Downtown Main Street (shops, restaurants, galleries) is about 1.5–2 miles north — a quick bike ride or a longer walk.
🛍️ Artisan Shops & Browsing
Downtown Chincoteague is a walkable strip of local artist studios, boutiques, and gift shops. Easy to spend an hour or two browsing. A few highlights:
Wine Cheese & More
4103 Main St. Virginia wines, craft beer, cheese, coffee, and pastries. Free tastings of featured wines. A great stop for a grown-up browse.
Blue Crab Bay Co.
Local seasonings, snacks, and gifts. Great for souvenirs.
Local artist studios
Several galleries with island-inspired art, photography, and crafts.
Island shops
Beach gear, Chincoteague pony merchandise, and general browsing.

Island Foods Great Valu
6277 Cleveland St, right on the island. Friendly, well-stocked, slightly higher prices.
Camp Store
On the resort property. Firewood, snacks, and last-minute essentials.
Food Lion
7013 Lankford Hwy, Oak Hall, VA 23416. The bigger grocery store, about 10 miles off-island on Route 13.
